The Gilis

When Pema was over 8 months pregnant, we started to feel the urgency that we were not going to be able to leave the house for a while and go on any adventures, so off we went to the gorgeous Gili islands off the coast of Lombok. The sea there is so calm, and there is so much good coral for snorkling. They have sea turtle hatcheries there to help preserve the sea turtles in the area and it works. We went on a day cruise to several different snorkling sites and there were turtles everywhere and you can get quite close to them and interact. Another wild animal encounter for tha Babu. Pema had fun floating around her big belly. The Gilis also have no cars on them, only horse drawn carriages and quaint cute bungalows. Truly paradise. We also visited the bird park on one of the islands and got to hold and interact with some of the tropical birds there. Not the best situation for those birds, but they seemed relatively happy. When any of you guys ever visit us, and you need to relieve stress, a week beach bummin on the Gilis will cure any ailment. And a guaranteed golden tan, mmmmmm.
